Project description
The aim of this project is to determine the effect of various irrigation practices on wine quality of pinotage and Sauvignon blanc by means of a field trial at Robertson. In spite of differences in vigour, production and juice composition that were primarily induced by the effect of the trellis systems, wine quality did not differ significantly. Since all treatments have only been applied for two seasons, and wine quality and analyses were determined for one season only, it is not possible to identify significant trends at this stage. However, at the end of the 2001 2002 season three years data will be available for evaluation.
