Project description
Grapevine scion cultivars are sensitive to water stress, but not all respond the same to limited water supplies. Similarly, rootstock varieties also display different levels of tolerance to water stress. The reaction of grafted vines can however not necessarily be predicted from the individual reactions of scions and rootstocks and are in addition strongly influenced by the particular site-specific factors, as well as seasonal variation and management practices. to fully understand the reaction of the different scion, rootstocks and grafted vines to water stress, some of these sources of variation has to be eliminated in experiments that seek to establish water stress as the main experimental variable.
